Ready to become a member? Great!
Please read the membership agreement and then fill out the membership form below to become a member of LTA.
Membership Agreement:
By signing this membership agreement and joining as a member of Louisiana Trans Advocates, I certify the following:
I am a transgender, nonbinary, gender nonconforming, or questioning person who meets one of the below requirements:
living in the state of Louisiana
living in a state that borders Louisiana where an LTA chapter is the closest trans social support resource
living elsewhere but as a former resident of Louisiana who retains close ties to the state or LTA
I believe that trans liberation depends on the liberation of intersecting communities that experience systemic oppression, especially Black and indigenous people of color, the poor, immigrants, people with disabilities, and women and femme-identified people.
I will take action against racism and white supremacy, misogyny, classism, cissexism, and heterosexism where it shows up in my own life and in LTA, whether internalized, interpersonal, or institutional, and I commit to continuing to educate myself on systemic oppression and to taking accountability for any harm I cause.
I believe in the core human rights of self-determination and expression for all trans, nonbinary and gender nonconforming people and will not disrespect, demean, or discriminate against people on the basis of their gender identity, their decisions related to social or medical transition, or any other characteristic related to a person’s gender expression and self-determination.
I acknowledge and understand that should I take actions in conflict with the above agreement that I forfeit my right to membership in LTA and the benefits of that membership.
What if I’m not ready to sign the membership agreement?
That’s ok! We strongly believe that it’s important all members are on board with the membership agreement. If you aren’t, we would strongly encourage you to hold off on joining. You are welcome to participate in any of our upcoming Solidarity 101 meetings for prospective members, where hopefully we can address any questions you might have about our values.
